Speed goat

An affectionate Montana name for the pronghorn, the fast-running animal of the open plains that is neither a true goat nor a true antelope. Hunters and ranchers favor the term, a nod to the pronghorn being the fastest land mammal in North America. The variant 'prairie goat' is also heard.
