Privacy Policy

Dialectly is a free online dictionary. We do not require an account, we do not sell ads, and we do not sell data to anyone. This page describes the very small amount of information we do collect, why, and how you can opt out.
What we collect
Anonymous analytics (Google Analytics 4) — only if you accept the cookie banner. We collect: pages viewed, device type, country (city-level at most), referrer, and which words you searched for. We use this to learn what Americans are looking up so we can grow the dictionary in directions readers actually care about. We do not collect your name, email address, or any identifier that points back to you personally.
Server logs — when your browser loads a page, our hosting provider (Vercel) records the request line, IP address, and user-agent, the same way every web server in the world does. These logs are kept for up to 30 days for debugging and security, then deleted.
That's it. We don't run third-party ad networks, we don't embed social trackers, we don't use fingerprinting libraries, and we don't share data with data brokers.
Cookies
We use two kinds. Strictly necessary cookies are used to remember your consent choice and a few interface preferences (recent searches, map cache). Analytics cookies are set only after you accept the cookie banner — if you reject, Google Analytics runs in a privacy-preserving "denied" mode that sends an anonymous pageview ping and stores no identifier.
You can change your choice any time by clearing your browser data for this site, or by emailing us (see below).
Your rights (CCPA, GDPR, etc.)
If you live in California (CCPA / CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We don't sell or share personal information in the sense those statutes define. You can still exercise your right to know or delete by emailing us.
If you live in the EU or UK (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to object to processing. Our legal basis for processing analytics data is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)); for server logs it is our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service (Article 6(1)(f)). The service is operated outside the EU/UK; data transferred to the United States is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Vercel) and Google's Standard Contractual Clauses.
To make any request — including "delete everything you have on me" — write to soloviy.app@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes meaningfully, we update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes that affect data already collected will be announced in the cookie banner on your next visit.
