What does “Coug it” mean

To 'Coug it' is to lose a game (or any sure thing) in the most painful, last-second, self-inflicted way possible — named for Washington State University's Cougars football team and their decades-long habit of late collapses. Popularized in 1985 by Spokesman-Review columnist John Blanchette after a home loss to Arizona State in which WSU outgained the opponent by 228 yards. The phrase has spread across Pacific Northwest sports media but rarely appears outside it.
