What does “buckra” mean
Gullah Geechee word for a white person, borrowed from the West African Efik/Ibibio/Annang 'mbakara' (literally 'he who surrounds/governs'). Brought across the Atlantic by enslaved Africans and still in active use along the SC/GA coast.
