What does “Stravenue” mean
A stravenue (portmanteau of 'street' + 'avenue') is a road that runs diagonally between Tucson's east-west streets and north-south avenues. Invented in 1948 by surveyor Tony Blanton for the Country Club Park subdivision, the made-up word was adopted into the city's official street-naming system and even has its own USPS suffix abbreviation, STRA. About thirty stravenues exist in Tucson and Pima County — and nowhere else on Earth.
