What does “monsoon season” mean
From roughly mid-June through September, moisture pumps north into Arizona and New Mexico and triggers explosive late-afternoon thunderstorms, dust storms, and flash floods. Phoenix and Tucson get more than half their annual rain during the monsoon, and 'monsoon' here is a noun, a verb, and an explanation for why the sky is suddenly black at 4pm. Do not confuse it with the Indian Ocean variety.
