What does “nor'easter” mean
A large extratropical cyclone in the western North Atlantic, named for its northeast winds. Forms most often between November and March off the coast between North Carolina and Massachusetts and slams into New England with heavy snow, rain, hurricane-force gusts and coastal flooding.
