What does “comeback sauce” mean

Comeback sauce was invented in the late 1920s in Jackson, Mississippi — most often credited to the Rotisserie restaurant or the Mayflower Cafe, both Greek-immigrant-run establishments. The name reflects how regulars would 'come back' for more. It is dipped, drizzled and dressed onto practically anything in central Mississippi but is largely unknown outside the South.
