In much of the Deep South, "coke" is a generic term for any soft drink, regardless of brand. A typical exchange: "Want a coke?" "Yeah." "What kind?" "Sprite." See also "pop" (Midwest, Pacific NW) and "soda" (Northeast, Bay Area).
