What does “the Hooch” mean

'Let's hit the Hooch' is shorthand for a day of tubing, kayaking or floating down the Chattahoochee, which runs through metro Atlanta and supplies drinking water to roughly 6 million people. The activity itself is called 'shooting the Hooch'. Outside Georgia and east Alabama the nickname is unfamiliar; in Atlanta it is the default name for the river.
