What does “egg cream” mean

Invented in the late 19th-century Lower East Side, attributed to Jewish immigrant candy-store owner Louis Auster around 1890. The classic recipe uses Fox's U-Bet chocolate syrup, whole milk, and seltzer in a small Coke glass with a foamy white head.
