What does “deadass” mean

Originated in NYC African American Vernacular English in the late 1990s, combining 'dead' (completely) with the '-ass' intensifier. Used as an intensifier ('I'm deadass tired'), to signal sincerity, and as a one-word question ('Deadass?'). Became a stamped marker of NYC identity around 2016.
