Per the Dictionary of American Regional English, Mercer County NJ is the rough dividing line: north of it people say 'sprinkles,' south of it 'jimmies.' The Bethlehem PA candy company Just Born claims it invented the topping in the 1930s. Shared with Boston and parts of New England.
