Birch beer is a carbonated soft drink similar to root beer but flavored with distilled birch bark extract, often combined with wintergreen, vanilla, and cinnamon. It is most commonly found across the Northeastern United States, with transparent 'white' birch beer popular in New England and darker 'red' varieties dominant in Pennsylvania and the wider Mid-Atlantic.
